While Obama sits bewildered as he watches the Egyptian masses overthrow the hated dictator Mubarak, in the United States there are workers, trade unionists, youth and socialist activists who rejoice at the scenes we have been witnessing in these historical moments in Egypt. Here we publish a speech by the Editor of the US Socialist Appeal, John Peterson.




With a military coup occurring in Honduras to oust president Manuel Zeleya on Sunday, a protest was held on Monday afternoon, June 29, in front of the Honduran consulate in San Francisco. With less than 24 hours notice, we had an attendance of approximately 150 people, many of them Honduran.

Faced with the lack of interest of the bosses in solving their just demands, the workers have now decided to struggle for nationalisation under workers' control.
