The WIL recently participated in anti-war marches and demonstrations across the country to mark the 4-year anniversary of the war. From Washington, DC to San Francisco, Portland to Minneapolis, St. Louis to Providence, WIL members joined hundreds of thousands in opposing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Pittsburgh, some 2,000 workers, veterans, and youth organized a militant demonstration. The following speech was delivered by WIL comrade Kristin Parrotta. |

In the same way that the revolutionary movement depends at critical moments on the quality of the leadership, so the outcome of a war, such as the war in Iraq, can be decisively influenced by the political and military leadership of the bourgeoisie. Bush is now acting against the interests of the class he is supposed to represent. |

On March 12th and 13th there were demonstrations called in Providence, RI in response to the raid, detention and deportation of immigrant workers that took place last week in the Massachusetts city of New Bedford. Early in the morning of March 6th, two days before International Women’s Day, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials made a massive raid at a sweatshop in the Massachusetts city of New Bedford. 327 workers, mainly female, and many mothers of young children, were rounded up and detained. |
