|Description:||Marxism has been declared dead countless times in the past 150 years. And yet, it keeps rearing its head. The reason is clear. Capitalism is in a profound crisis. One country after another is being rocked by political, economic, and social convulsions. Millions of people are looking for a way out of the dead end of capitalism. Only the ideas of Marxism can provide a framework for not only understanding the situation unfolding around us, but for doing something to change it. The Marxist method is an incomparable tool for analyzing society, economics, history, politics, science, and nature. However, its roots lie in its philosophical backbone: dialectical materialism. |
Alan Woods, world-renowned Marxist theoretician, author, and chief political editor of the In Defense of Marxism website (www.marxist.com), will present an introduction to the rich and wide-ranging ideas and application of Marxist philosophy: from chaos and complexity theory, to the latest developments in cosmology and genetics; from earthquakes and volcanoes in nature, to revolutions and the struggle for socialism in society. Join us to learn more about these marvelous ideas, their origins, basic postulates, and application to the world today.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations to help defray the costs of this tour are appreciated. Mayday Books carries a full selection of Alan Woods' books and booklets, which will be available for purchase.
